About the Workshop
The Summer Research Workshop is an intensive one-month research training programme for outstanding non-final year bachelor’s and master’s students from institutions outside Hong Kong SAR, China. The Workshop aims to strengthen research skills, foster academic development, and broaden intellectual horizons through seminars, hands-on projects, and networking activities. Participants will engage in sustained dialogue and mentorship with faculty from the Department of Biostatistics, the Department of Computer Science, and the Department of Data Science within the College of Computing.

- One-to-one mentorship with a distinguished professor
Successful applicants will be supervised by an eminent professor in CityUHK to plan and carry out a research project. The event organiser will help participants match with mentors based on participants’ given priorities and research interest.
- Free accommodation
University accommodation will be provided for week 1 & week 2 (i.e. 3 to 17 July 2026). Students who choose to remain in person at CityUHK for weeks 3 and 4 (i.e. 18 to 31 July 2026) will have to pay the rate of 2026 Summer Letting set by Student Residence Office: HK$500 per double occupancy room per night.
- Financial support for airfare*:
a) Places in the Guangdong Province and Macau SAR of Chinese Mainland: maximum HK$1,000
b) Places other than the Guangdong Province of the Chinese Mainland: maximum HK$2,000
c) Asian countries/areas excluding the Chinese Mainland and Macau SAR: maximum HK$2,000
d) Countries and areas other than (a), (b) and (c): maximum HK$4,000
- Off-campus local cultural activity
A half‑day Hong Kong sightseeing tour will be provided, including coach transportation to and from CityUHK, lunch, and entrance fees to the listed scenic attractions.
*The subsidy amount to the participants depends on the location of departure and will be based on actual expenses with supporting documents provided and reimbursed upon the successful completion of the programme.
Eligibility
- Non-final year bachelor's students with CGPA 3.0 or above (or equivalent) from a recognised institution outside of Hong Kong, China.
- Non-final year master’s students with CGPA 3.0 or above (or equivalent) from a recognised institution outside of Hong Kong, China.
Timeline
The Summer Research Workshop will run for one month, from 3 July to 31 July 2026.

Registration Fee
Registration Fee: HK$1,500 (the registration fee is refundable upon completion of the workshop marked by the submission of final research project to the College of Computing)
