Programme Overview
The Accredited Professional Mediation Training Course offered by CityUHK School of Law is designed for visiting students who wish to develop professional mediation skills and intend to become accredited mediators of the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL). Successful completion of the 40-hour course is recognised by the HKMAAL as meeting the Stage 1 training requirement. Subject to completing the Stage 2 and Stage 3 requirements, students are eligible to apply for Accredited General Mediator of the HKMAAL.
Highlights:
This course combines mediation theory with intensive practical skills. A variety of readings, exercises, videos, and role-plays will be used to encourage in-depth analysis of mediation concepts and the application of these concepts in practice through conducting a variety of case scenarios under the supervision of experienced coaches.

Entry Requirements
- Applicants shall hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognised university or equivalent qualification.
- If the degree or equivalent qualification is from an institution where the language of teaching and assessment is not English, applicants shall provide evidence of English proficiency such as:
• a minimum total score of 88 (internet-based test) in TOEFL; or(TOEFL and IELTS scores are considered valid for two years. Applicants are required to provide their TOEFL / IELTS test results obtained within the two years preceding the commencement of the Course. For CET-6 scores, the validity period is three years.)
• an overall band score of 6.5 in IELTS; or
• a score of 520 in the Chinese Mainland's College English Test (CET) Band 6; or
• other equivalent qualifications.

HK$16,000
Fees paid are not refundable unless the enrolled course is cancelled or suspended. Payment instructions will be provided upon successful application in late July 2026. -
Medium of Instruction:
• English
• Face-to-face (In the event of bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, a make-up class will be arranged.) -
Assessment :
• Continuous Assessment: 100%
• Min. Continuous Assessment Passing Requirement: 40%
• Class Assessment in the form of the following:
(i) simulated case scenarios, whereby students will be assessed on their ability to apply theory learned into actual practice;
(ii) in class exercises to test students’ abilities to understand the various stages and skills required at each segment of the mediation process; and
(iii) a written enforceable settlement agreement to test students’ ability to draft a concise and precise agreement that captures the essence of the parties' settlement. -
* Note:
100% attendance is required for students to pass this course.
📜 Certificate
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to students upon their successful fulfilment of all course requirements.
