SEE Successfully Hosts Seminar Cum Admission Talk in Jakarta on Climate Change and Urban Challenges

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) successfully hosted a highly engaging "Seminar cum Admission Talk" on 25 June 2026, at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event drew around 30 enthusiastic participants, including prospective students, parents, and academic professionals who were eager to explore solutions to some of the region's most pressing environmental challenges and learn more about the academic opportunities offered by SEE programmes.
Academic Seminar by Dean Prof. Benjamin Horton

The highlight of the academic seminar was a presentation delivered by Prof. Benjamin Horton, Dean and Chair Professor of Earth Science at SEE, titled "Climate Change and Sea Level Rise in Jakarta: Impacts, Urban Challenges, and Capital Relocation". Prof. Horton provided deep scientific insights into the ecological vulnerabilities facing Jakarta, discussing the complex, multi-faceted challenges driving urban adaptation and the strategic implications behind capital relocation initiatives.
Comprehensive Admission Talk Session

Following the academic seminar, Prof. Shauhrat Chopra, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) and Associate Professor, alongside Prof. Edwin Tso, Associate Dean (Internationalisation and Outreach), and Chair Professor of Energy and Sustainability, led the comprehensive admission talk session. Together, they introduced CityUHK's cutting-edge curriculum, world-class research opportunities, and vibrant international student community. This interactive segment allowed attendees to engage directly with the Associate Deans, gaining valuable clarity on admissions processes, career prospects, and how SEE empowers the next generation of sustainability leaders to drive real-world impacts.
SEE extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us in Jakarta. The school remains deeply committed to fostering international exchange and expanding its outreach to nurture future talent across the region.
