Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) was pleased to welcome Dr. Jorge Colón, Professor of Practice and Director of Veterinary Business Education at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, for an inspiring week-long visit from October 26 to 30, 2026.

Dr. Colón’s visit supported JCC’s ongoing efforts to integrate business concepts, professional skills, and leadership training into veterinary education. During his stay, Dr. Colón met with JCC’s executive team, including Dean Vanessa Barrs, Prof. Kate Flay, Assistant Dean, Teaching & Learning (BVM), and Prof. Stefan Hobi, Head of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS). The discussions focused on curriculum enhancement for the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) programme and academic collaboration on veterinary business education.

Dr. Colón conducted several interactive sessions with students, including a masterclass for BVM and Master of Veterinary Medicine (MVetMed) students covering core business principles relevant to practice. He also hosted a lunchtime seminar, "Beyond Veterinary School: How to Plan Your Career and Build Your Future," for BVM students, offering advice on career planning, financial management, mentorship and professional growth. Additionally, Dr. Colón toured the CityU Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC), leading a "Lunch & Learn" session for VMC veterinarians on practice leadership and value creation.

JCC extends its sincere thanks to Dr. Colón for visiting our college and sharing his valuable expertise and insights with our faculty, clinicians and students.
