SLW PhD Candidate Floriane CHANG Awarded Wang Chonghui Prize at ILA-ASIL 2025
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) School of Law is pleased to announce that Ms. Floriane CHANG, a PhD student in Law supervised by Professor Julien CHAISSE, has been awarded the ‘Wang Chonghui Prize’ at the 2025 ILA-ASIL Asia-Pacific Research Forum, which took place in Taipei on 7 and 8 July 2025.

The ILA-ASIL Forum is jointly organised by the International Law Association and the American Society of International Law. It brings together legal scholars, practitioners, and public officials from across the region and beyond. The event is known for its selectivity, admitting only a limited number of papers for presentation after peer review. Ms. Chang’s paper was among those selected for presentation and her work went on to receive the conference’s top academic honour. Her paper, titled "Preserving the Past for Future Generations: Cultural Heritage Restitutions, Human Rights, and Sustainability in the Asia-Pacific", examines how returning cultural artefacts connects with broader legal and ethical questions concerning human rights and environmental responsibility. She places particular focus on examples from the Asia-Pacific region.
The Wang Chonghui Prize is named after Judge WANG Chonghui, who served on the Permanent Court of International Justice and held the position of Foreign Minister of the Republic of China.
This recognition marks a significant achievement for both Ms. Chang and the research community at CityUHK School of Law.

香港城市大學(城大)法律學院榮幸地宣布，由Julien CHAISSE教授指導的哲學博士生Floriane CHANG在2025年7月7日至8日於在台北舉行的2025年ILA-ASIL亞太研究論壇獲頒發「王寵惠獎」(Wang Chonghui Prize)。

亞太研究論壇由世界國際法學會與美國國際法學會共同主辦，匯集了來自亞太地區及更廣泛地區的法律學者、法律界工作者和政府官員。該論壇以嚴格的遴選著稱，所有論文均需經過同行評審，且僅少數論文能獲展示的機會。Floriane CHANG的論文不但獲選，更榮獲該論壇的最高榮譽。她的論文題為"Preserving the Past for Future Generations: Cultural Heritage Restitutions, Human Rights, and Sustainability in the Asia-Pacific”，探討了文物歸還如何與人權、環境責任等更廣泛的法律和倫理議題產生聯繫，並聚焦分析亞太地區的案例。
「王寵惠獎」以曾任職海牙常設國際法庭法官和中華民國外交總長的王寵惠法官命名。
這項殊榮不但是Floriane個人學術生涯的重要成就，亦是城大法律學院研究團隊的共同榮耀。
