Professor LONE, Fozia Nazir, is a distinguished scholar and legal expert at City University of Hong Kong School of Law, where she has taught since 2009. As Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Public Law and Human Rights Forum, she contributes her expertise to JD, LLM, and LLB programmes, including core courses. Professor Lone earned her LLM and PhD from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland (UK). Her research focuses on public international law, international human rights and humanitarian law, international water law, comparative Asian legal perspectives (China/India), and tort law. She has served as the Law School’s Safety Officer since 2020 and is an associate member of the Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law.
Professor Lone has published widely in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Emory International Law Review, the Journal of Water Law, the Chinese Journal of Comparative Law, the Chinese Journal of International Law, the Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law, the Chinese Journal of International Law, the Soochow Law Journal and the Vienna Journal on International Constitutional Law. Her work also includes research monographs and books. She has received competitive research grants from the University Grants Committee (Hong Kong) and the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland (UK). Internationally recognised, she is a member of several organisations, including the Asian Academy of International Law, International Water Resources Association, International Water Law Academy at Wuhan University (China), AIDA (International Association for Water Law), The Grassroots Institute (Canada), and Natural Resource Law & Governance (Italy). She welcomes research collaborations and PhD supervision in her areas of expertise.
