The 4th International Conference on Sustainable Energy Development (ICSED) was successfully held in Beijing from 28–30 November 2025 under the theme “Innovation Driving Green Transition, Technology Leading Energy Future”.  The conference gathered leading scholars and practitioners to explore pathways for intelligent energy systems and sustainable development in the context of carbon neutrality, contributing smart solutions to the global energy transition.

Prof. Fatwa Abdi, Associate Professor of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has achieved a pioneering advance in hydrogen technology. His latest publication, “Photoelectrochemical water splitting cells at elevated pressure using BiVO4 and platinized III‑V semiconductor photoelectrodes”, has been published in Nature Communications.

The research team led by Professor Wei Wu, Associate Professor from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has made significant progress in the interdisciplinary field of energy and water resources. Their innovative research titled "Multi-stage power-to-water battery synergizes flexible energy storage and efficient atmospheric water harvesting" has been published in the top-tier international journal Nature Communications.

A team of PhD students from Prof. Jian Wang’s research group at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has won the Bronze Award at the prestigious China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (CICSIC) 2025. The award-winning team members, Mr. Chi Zhang and Mr. Jia Lei, were recognized for their innovative project, “Catalyzing the Future: Next-Generation Platinum Alloy Catalysts for Hydrogen Fuel Cells.”

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) proudly congratulates Prof. Sam Hsu, Associate Professor at SEE, and his PhD students Shuang Wang and Cong Jiang, for winning the Best International Invention & Innovation Award by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) at the 5th Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions (AEII), held in Hong Kong on 4–5 December 2025.

Schuster, President’s Chair in Genomics and Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University, as well as Research Director at the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE). Professor Schuster visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) in December 2025 as a Distinguished Visiting Professor.
