We were thrilled to have Ir Alice Chow, Arup Fellow and Director at Arup, join us at the SEE Colloquium on 9 April 2024, to share her valuable insights on "My Journey to Circular Economy in Hong Kong". During the Colloquium, Alice highlighted the critical issue of depleting natural resources resulting from excessive exploitation for economic growth and development. She emphasized the importance of adopting a sustainable approach across all sectors to achieve long-term economic growth.

Prof. Carol Lin recently awarded the MilliporeSigma Green Chemistry Education Challenge Awards (US$5,000) by Beyond Benign, Inc.  This is a non-profit organization co-founded in 2007 by Dr. John Warner and Dr. Amy Cannon, co-located with the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry in Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA.

Prof. Xuan Wang’s PhD student Xi LIU received the JESE excellent poster presentation award in the 12th National Conference on Environmental Chemistry, where he presented his PhD study on “Global impact of chlorine chemistry on secondary organic aerosols”. The conference was held during 17-21 November 2023 in Wuhan, which had more than 10,000 attendances. The award is one of the 12 selected from over 1,200 poster presentations.

SEE PhD student Mr. Oluwafemi Ebenezer ADEYERI, co-supervised by Prof. Wen Zhou and Prof. Xuan Wang, published a research paper entitled “Minimizing uncertainties in climate projections and water budget reveals the vulnerability of freshwater to climate change” in One Earth. This work addresses the critical issue of global water scarcity and its implications for agriculture, food security, and human sustainability.
