We are excited to announce that Prof. ZHANG Lin has been chosen as one of the 18 global leaders to participate in the 2024 SUSI (Study of the U.S. Institutes) for Scholars program on U.S. economics and sustainable development. The SUSI for Scholars program is a premier academic exchange program of the U.S. Department of State that aims at enhancing leadership skills and deepening understanding of U.S. institutions and culture.

School of Energy and Environment (SEE) recently hosted a highly informative and engaging Tech Talk focused on the theme of “Hydrogen and Green Energy”. The Tech Talk, held on 16 March 2024 featured Prof. Xue WANG, Prof. Zhenbin WANG, and Prof. Sai Kishore RAVI of SEE in the field who shed light on the future prospects and advancements in hydrogen-based technologies and sustainable energy solutions.

On the 11th and 13th of March, a group of undergraduate students taking the Gateway Education course GE1308, led by Prof. Sai Kishore RAVI, visited the solar farm and wastewater treatment facilities at Siu Ho Wan, managed by Drainage Services Department (DSD). This visit gave them a close look at how renewable energy is integrated into Hong Kong’s sewage treatment facilities, in line with the city’s climate action goals.

We are thrilled to announce that Prof. Jason Lam from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) has been honored with the CityU Teaching Excellence Award for the academic year 2023/24. CityU introduced the Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) in 1993, as the first university in Hong Kong to offer such awards. The principal aims of the TEA are to acknowledge and reward excellent teachers in the University and promote and nurture best teaching practices.

Mr. Hongqing Luo, PhD student of Prof. Xuan Wang, has won the first prize in the 2023 Web 3.0 Innovation Hackathon, and the bronze award in the 9th China International Internet College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, both held in December 2023. Mr. Luo was awarded with a blockchain-based global sustainable commodity exchange of Vision Carbon, a startup incubated by CityU HK Tech 300.

The second seminar of the Pro-Chancellor’s Seminar Series took place on 1 March 2024 at City University of Hong Kong, exploring the dynamic realm of “Energy, Environment, and Sustainability: Local Strength and Global Impact”. The seminar was led by Professor Chen Guohua, the Dean of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE). The event also served as a celebration of the 15th anniversary of the School’s establishment, highlighting its noteworthy achievements and ongoing commitment to societal well-being.
