SEE Advisory Committee Meeting 2025/26 Successfully Convened

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) successfully convened its 2025/26 Advisory Committee Meeting on 21 January 2026. Chaired by Ir Dr. Vincent Cheng, Arup Fellow and APAC Climate and Sustainability Leader, the meeting brought together distinguished members of the Advisory Committee, representing leading organizations across energy, engineering, sustainability, and environmental sectors.

The 2025/26 SEE Advisory Committee comprises senior leaders from a diverse range of companies or institutions, listed in alphabetical order: AECOM, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Arup, Binnies Hong Kong Limited, Business Environment Council Limited, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, the Environment and Ecology Bureau (HKSAR Government), Focus Energy Asia Ltd, Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), Hong Kong Green Building Council, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Hong Kong Productivity Council, the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, IPG Capital, Siemens Limited, Telemax Environmental and Energy Management Limited, and WWF–Hong Kong. Their participation demonstrates the breadth of expertise and the strong commitment to advancing energy and environmental innovation in Hong Kong and beyond.

During the meeting, Prof. Benjamin Horton, Dean of SEE, provided an overview of the School’s development, while Associate Deans Prof. Shauhrat Chopra, Prof. Patrick Lee, and Prof. Edwin Tso delivered updates on undergraduate education, postgraduate research, and internationalisation initiatives. Faculty members Prof. Charles Xu, Prof. Jung‑Eun Chu, Prof. Wei Wu, and Prof. Penny Han presented their latest research projects, highlighting SEE’s strengths in advanced biorefinery, climate change and extreme weather, photovoltaic technologies, and sustainable wastewater systems.

Beyond reviewing SEE’s achievements and ongoing developments, the Advisory Committee also provided valuable guidance on the School’s future directions, particularly in strengthening industry–academia collaboration, enhancing research impact, and expanding international partnerships.
The luncheon following the meeting provided further opportunities for exchange and collaboration between industry leaders and SEE faculty. SEE extends its sincere gratitude to all Advisory Committee members and faculty colleagues for their valuable contributions, which continue to strengthen the School’s role as a leader in energy and environmental education, research, and industry engagement.
