Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU)
The team forming the technology start-up may have any mix of the following members of CityU:

Current undergraduates or postgraduates; and/or
-
Full-time professor(s) to serve as consultant(s), providing technical expertise and direction of the R&D work; and/or
-
CityU alumni who graduated on or after 1 January 2013 (not applicable to existing CityU TSSSU recipients).
The start-up must be a company registered under the Companies Ordinance for not more than 2 years (This requirement does not apply to start-ups recommended for the TSSSU funding for the second or third year).

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I am a graduate from CityU, am I eligible for the scheme?
A: CityU alumni who have graduated for not more than 5 years are eligible, i.e graduated on or after 1 January 2013.
Q: How will the reimbursement be arranged?
A: Reimbursement will be made on a quarterly basis. Quarterly report and reimbursement request have to be submitted to CityU’s Knowledge Transfer Office before deadline.
Q: What kind of expenditure cannot be reimbursed?
A: If the items are already funded by CityU, the Government, a Government subvented body/institution or third parties, those items will NOT be funded under TSSSU. There are some more examples of items not to be funded under TSSSU stated in the Guidelines.
Q: How many applicants will be selected per year?
A: There is no limit on the number of selected applicants. The total annual funding for CityU is HK$4 million. The amount of funding for each start-up is capped at HK$1.2 million.
Q: Does the existing funded start-up need to apply for TSSSU funding again?
A: Yes.
