Overview
The Accredited Professional Mediation Training Course of CityUHK School of Law is designed for visiting students who wish to develop professional mediation skills and intend to become HKMAAL accredited mediators. Upon successful completion of the course, and subject to completing Stage 2 and Stage 3 requirements as stipulated by the HKMAAL, students are eligible to apply for Accredited General Mediator status of the HKMAAL.
Highlights:
The course effectively combines theoretical frameworks with intensive practical skills. A variety of selected readings, interactive exercises, video analyses, and simulated role-plays will be utilized to encourage in-depth analysis of mediation concepts. Students will apply these concepts in practice by conducting diverse case scenarios under the direct supervision of highly experienced coaches.

Degree Requirement:
Applicants shall hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized university or equivalent qualification. -
English Proficiency:
If the qualification is from an institution where English is not the medium of instruction, required minimums apply:• TOEFL (iBT): 88(TOEFL/IELTS valid for 2 years preceding course commencement; CET-6 valid for 3 years.)
• IELTS (Overall): 6.5
• CET-6 (Mainland): 520
• Or other equivalent qualifications. -

HK$16,000
Fees paid are non-refundable unless the course is cancelled or suspended. Payment instructions will be provided upon successful application in late July 2026.

English / Face-to-face mode.
(In the event of bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, a make-up class will be arranged.) -
Assessment Criteria:
• Continuous Assessment: 100%
• Minimum Passing Requirement: 40% -
Class Assessment Components:
• Simulated Case Scenarios: Evaluating the ability to apply theory to actual practice.
• In-class Exercises: Testing comprehension of stages and skills required in mediation.
• Written Settlement Agreement: Testing the ability to draft concise, precise, and enforceable agreements. -
* Attendance Note:
100% attendance is strictly required for students to pass this training course.
📜 Certificate Award: A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to students upon their successful fulfilment of all course requirements.
