Fang Brothers Whole Person Development Scholarships 2025/26
What are your life goals? Achieving an excellent GPA score? Helping needy people in the community? If you are actively pursuing Whole Person Development (WPD), please check this Scholarships which are now open for application/nomination.
Background
With an aim to encourage and recognise students in the pursuit of whole person development, the late Dr Kenneth Fang donated generously to establish the Fang Brothers Whole Person Development Scholarships since the 2004/05 academic year.
Value and number of Scholarships
A maximum of two scholarships of HK$100,000 each shall be awarded.
Eligibility
Full-time non-first-year local undergraduate degree students.
Selection Criteria
- Outstanding performance and contribution in the seven areas of Whole Person Development, i.e. spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic, career and emotional aspects (德、智、體、群、美、事、情).
- Special talents or significant contributions to the community (including CityUHK, local and global community).
- Have achieved a CGPA of 3.2 or above at the time of application/nomination at CityUHK.
Documents for Application
- Completed application form.
- An essay in Chinese: “在全人發展的學習過程中,對我個人成長及將來事業發展的影響”.
- An essay in English: “My action plan on promoting whole person development for the advancement and betterment of the community / university life in the years to come”.
- A copy of CityUHK academic report (AIMS version is acceptable), certificate(s) of public exam(s).
- Valid proof (e.g. letters or certificates issued by the activity organisation) to show participation and contribution to the seven areas of Whole Person Development. Photo/picture of event is NOT a valid proof.

Methods and Deadlines
1. Open-application method: Interested students can submit an application form with supporting documents to the collection box located at the general office of Student Development Services (SDS) at 6/F Bank of China (Hong Kong) Complex by 5:00 pm, 4 December 2025 (Thursday). Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
2. Nomination method: Students can be nominated by his/her College/ School/ Department. Kindly note the deadline set by the respective College/ School/ Department.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE:
1. The applicants/nominations should provide valid proof (in the recent 3 years) to demonstrate his/her achievement and contribution to the seven areas of Whole Person Development at the time of application/nomination. Photo/ picture of the event is NOT a valid proof.
2. Shortlisted candidates MUST attend one to two selection interviews between January and March 2026 in person at the campus. Students who could not attend the interview in person will NOT be considered for the Scholarships.
3. The recipients of Fang Brothers Whole Person Development Scholarships are not allowed to concurrently hold the other scholarships that exceed the upper limit* on the total amount of merit-based awards of the University (i.e. HK$230,000) in the 2025/26 academic year.
