Handheld Spinning Platform with Centrifugal Microfluidics for Community Health Care

The Handheld Spinning Platform with Centrifugal Microfluidics (HSPCM) developed by Spinelligent Biotechnology is an innovative point-of-care diagnostic tool for rapid urinary total protein (UTP) quantification. Utilizing a 3D-printed spinning mechanism with a biochip-based colorimetric assay, the device offers high sensitivity, rapid results (3 minutes) and affordability ($1.4 per test). Its electricity-free, compact design makes it ideal for low-resource settings, clinics, and home-based monitoring. Compared to conventional benchtop analyzers, HSPCM provides a user-friendly and scalable alternative for proteinuria assessment, with potential applications in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk management.
