CityUHK Celebrates HKSAR 28th Anniversary with Flag-Raising Ceremony

Mr Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), together with Professor Freddy Boey, President and University Distinguished Professor, presided over a flag-raising ceremony at Wong Cheung Lo Hui Yuet Hall on 1 July to celebrate the 28th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong SAR.

Mr Michael Ngai and Professor Freddy Boey, along with about 200 members of the University community attended the Ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by around 200 members of the University community, including Ms Lilian Chiang Sui-fook, Deputy Chairman of the Council, and Mr Charles Chin Ying-on, Treasurer of the Council. Also present were Council Members Mr David Ho Chi-hooMr Joseph Tse Lap-bunMr Justin Wong Tak-hoDr Raymond Leung Siu-hongMr Robert Lui Chi-wangMr Eugene Fong Yick-jinMs Grace Yu Ho-wunProfessor Ray Cheung Chak-chungProfessor Wang Jianping, and Mr Li Guangda. Additionally, Court Members Dr Gary Cheng Faat-tingProfessor Albert Ip Yuk-keungMr Patrick Tsang On-yip, and Professor Tinly Wong Tin-chee, Member of CityUHK Foundation Board of Governors, were in attendance, alongside senior management including Professor Lee Chun-sing, Provost and Deputy President; Professor Kevin Downing, Secretary to Council; Professor Li Wen Jung, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy); and Miss Maggie Chau, Vice-President (Administration). Staff and student representatives were also present. The National, HKSAR, and University flags were raised.

CityUHK’s student flag-raising team carried out the flag-raising ceremony, with student representatives also serving as masters of ceremonies. The ceremony brought the CityUHK community together to celebrate Hong Kong’s return to the motherland. It also served as an inspiration to actively seize opportunities arising from national development and contribute to Hong Kong’s future.
