4. Streams of Specialization (Optional) All
students, except for students admitted to the Joint Degree Programme with
Columbia University, can choose to graduate with a stream by completing at
least 4 courses (12 credits units) of the courses listed under the
corresponding stream. Each student is only allowed to declare one stream of
specialization. The stream will be recorded in the transcript of studies of
students upon completion of the degree.

Stream I: Health and Development
Aims of Stream The Health and Development
stream provides specialized knowledge and training on well-being, growth and
development, and quality of life. The main objective of this stream is
to enrich human condition throughout the lifespan. Students will learn about models of
assessment, diagnosis, intervention, prevention, and health promotion, with the
opportunity for hands-on learning experiences and an emphasis on critical
application of learning. The stream is
ideal for students who are interested in public health, clinical and health
psychology, and human development.

Stream II: Mind and Brain
Aims of Stream The Mind and Brain
stream is designed to enrich students’ learning and understanding of how our
mind works from a brain or neuroscience perspective. The brain imaging and stimulation approaches
on studying the human mind, and impact of brain injury on mental function and
behavioural performance will be covered.
In addition, hands-on training on experimental design and statistical
analysis are included to equip students with the essential skills in this
fast-advancing research area.
This stream prepares the students who are interested in a
future career or academic path in cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology,
psycholinguistics, or in areas taking a brain or neuroscience perspective
to understand the human mind.
