Dr Shunqi Yang is a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Law, City University of Hong Kong, where her research spans financial regulation, corporate governance, and sustainable finance. She holds a PhD from King’s College London, having passed her final viva without corrections, and her thesis was awarded the King’s Outstanding Thesis Prize 2024/25. She also holds an MA in Law (qualifying law degree) from the University of Bristol, equipping her with a thorough common law foundation and a dual bachelor’s degree in Law and English. Admitted under the Chinese Legal Profession Qualification, she brings a cross-jurisdictional grounding spanning both common law and Chinese legal systems.

Prior to joining CityU, Dr Yang held several roles across leading institutions, including positions at Taylor Wessing (legal trainee), the University of Birmingham (research assistant), and King’s College London (research associate). Her latest work is a book chapter on non-performing loans, published by Edward Elgar in 2026. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, with several forthcoming publications.
