The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong is delighted to announce that Prof. Wen-Xiong Wang has been conferred the SETAC Founders Award. This is the highest distinction awarded by the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC).

SETAC is a worldwide professional organization with approximately 10,000 members across 90 countries dedicated to advancing environmental science. This award recognizes Prof. Wang’s distinguished scientific career spanning over three decades. His foundational research in metals ecotoxicology, bioaccumulation, nanomaterials, and microplastics has significantly advanced marine science and informed water quality criteria in Hong Kong.

Prof. Wang’s achievement is historic, as he is only the second scientist from Asia to receive this distinction in the society’s history, following the first recipient from Japan 25 years ago. Prof. Wang was specifically recognized by the Committee for the global impact, scientific depth, and sustained excellence of his work.

The award will be formally presented at an upcoming SETAC Meeting. SEE extends its warmest congratulations to Prof. Wang on this remarkable and well-deserved recognition of his leadership and contribution to a sustainable future.
