City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) Press and The Hong Kong Award for Young People (AYP) jointly organized a corporate visit on 20 May. This event was part of the corporate visit series under the “HYAB Youth Career Planning Scheme 2025-28 — Career Tailor” project, which is sponsored by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB) and AYP. As a corporate partner, CityUHK Press was honored to participate and welcome a group of Form 5 students from CCC Rotary Secondary School.

During the visit, students toured the Press’s Digital Creative Hub, Design & Print Solutions Centre and the CityUHK Bookshop, gaining first-hand insight into the publishing, retail, and cultural and creative industries. In addition to the guided tour, CityUHK Press curated a special “Birth of a Book” workshop. Under the guidance of the publishing team, students stepped into the shoes of “publishers” to handcraft their very own "I’m Authoring" mini-books, experiencing the creative and production process from scratch.

Through this event, students not only learned about the fusion of traditional and modern printing technologies but also gained a deeper understanding of the latest developments and diverse opportunities within the publishing sector, opening up new horizons for their early career planning and development.

CityUHK Press expresses its heartfelt gratitude to AYP for facilitating this collaboration, as well as to the teachers and students of CCC Rotary Secondary School for their participation. Seeing the next generation creating their own publications and showing such enthusiasm for the publishing industry has been truly inspiring for the Press. CityUHK Press hopes that, in future career planning, every student can carefully tailor their own brilliant blueprints, just as they would craft and edit a great book.
