A rooftop organic farm on the Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin Academic Building, launched under the "GROW CityUHK" initiative (2017) and tended by around 40 volunteer students, staff and alumni using chemical-pesticide-free methods; run jointly by the Facilities Management Office and Student Development Services, it turns unused rooftop into productive farmland for a more self-sufficient campus.
The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences runs Hong Kong's first and only veterinary degree — built on the One Health paradigm with a dedicated Food Safety theme, and supported by the CityUHK teaching dairy farm and the Master of Public Health, embedding farm-to-fork food safety into the curriculum.
CityUHK signed the "Gift Wise Charter" (Green Mid-Autumn Festival Food Saving Pledge) organised by food-redistribution charity Food Grace, and ran a campus drive collecting individually packed, unexpired mooncakes that Food Grace redistributed to people in need before the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Over ten students joined a December 2025 workshop to harvest, cook and pickle Biodiversity Garden produce; more than 25 kg of organically farmed produce were donated to the Sham Shui Po community via Pei Ho Counterparts.
