The closing concert of the CityU Arts Festival 2023/24, CityU Chinese Orchestra and Members of Chinese Music Department of Xinghai Conservatory of Music: Starry Music of Silk Road, was successfully held on 24 November 2023!

Six elite performers from the Chinese Music Department of Xinghai Conservatory of Music from Guangzhou were invited to perform with CityU Chinese Orchestra, attracting over 520 audience!

The concert began with the song "Celebration Overture", two groups then took turns playing a variety of Chinese instruments, including Erhu, Pipa, Guzheng, Dizi, Percussion, etc., to perform a series of Chinese music pieces featuring the Silk Road, including "The Flying Apsaras", "Snow Lotus" and "Walker" etc.

The final piece was a joint performance by CityU Chinese Orchestra and Ms MENG Xiaoxu, the renowned Erhu player in China and the Deputy Director and Associate Professor of Xinghai. The extraordinary performance and techniques performed by Ms MENG amazed the audience. In response to the audience's enthusiastic response, Ms MENG and CityU CO echoed with the piece "The Sounds of Snowfall", summarising this unforgettable evening!

The end of the concert also marked a grand finale of this year's CityU Arts Festival. Thank you again for all the incredible performers and the support from every audience. See you again next year!
