Professor Julien CHAISSE Elected Vice Chair of the American Society of International Law’s International Law and Technology Interest Group

The School of Law at City University of Hong Kong is pleased to share that Professor Julien CHAISSE, Professor & RGC Senior Research Fellow, has been elected Vice Chair of the American Society of International Law’s International Law and Technology Interest Group. His term begins at the 2026 ASIL Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, held from 22 to 25 April 2026.

The American Society of International Law is one of the leading learned societies in the field. Its International Law and Technology Interest Group has brought together scholars and practitioners working across jurisdictions and fields . Digital trade, cross border data flows, cyber operations, artificial intelligence, online jurisdiction, platform governance, and the place of private power in transnational ordering now run through much of contemporary international law. Through the ASIL Annual Meeting and its work across the year, the Interest Group helps move these questions into wider circulation across the profession and carries them into broader discussion across the Society.

Professor Chaisse’s election brings him into the core leadership of the Interest Group under its governing structure and places him in an ongoing role in guiding its work and direction in the years ahead.

The successful election of Professor Chaisse places CityUHK School of Law in an active international conversation on the future of law and technology and adds to the School’s presence in leading academic and professional circles engaged with these questions.
