The year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the Motherland and the commencement of the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan. As a key engine for Hong Kong’s future development, the Northern Metropoliswill provide approximately 3,000 hectares of developable land, accounting for about one-third of Hong Kong’s total land area. It is planned to accommodate a population of 2.5 million and create around 650,000 employment opportunities, while supporting a diverse range of functions including innovation and technology industries, an education city, and commercial and business developments.
To commemorate this significant milestone and to deepen students’ understanding of the development blueprint of the Northern Metropolis, as part of the “Love Our Home, Treasure Our Country Inter-school National Education Programme for 2026/27 academic year, the Hong Kong Subsidized Secondary Schools Council, the Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools, Hong Kong, and City University of Hong Kong are jointly organising the competition The Hong Kong Association for Computer Education (HKACE) and the Association of IT Leaders in Education (AiTLE) serve as supporting organisations (in no particular order), while Xiaomi Corporation is major sponsor.
