Research Associate/Postdoc in the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (Appointment for 6 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. A/R/1143/09]

Duties

Assist in project management and carry out laboratory research work (including development of standard protocols for sampling, sample preparation and chemical analyses for both targeted and non-targeted chemical contaminants; running standard ecotoxicity tests, data processing, data analysis, and report writing).

Requirements

A PhD degree in Environmental Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry or related disciplines plus at least 3 years’ relevant research experience after the award of a PhD degree.  Strong knowledge of and experience in environmental chemistry, extraction of organic chemical contaminants from environmental samples (water, sediment and biota tissues), operation of state-of-the-art analytical instruments (e.g. GC-MS, Orbitrap GC-MS/MS system, Triple Quadrupole GC-MS/MS, LC/MS-MS) and running standard ecotoxicity tests; good command of written and spoken English; strong organisational and interpersonal skills; being self-motivated and hardworking; a good team player; and ability to work independently are required.  Experience in analysing pharmaceuticals in seawater samples and non-target analysis is preferred.

Candidates with no more than 3 years’ postdoctoral experience may be considered for appointment as Postdoc.
