The master's program at CityU bridged my professional background with advanced theory, pairing lively classroom discussion with external seminars and field trips. This groundwork, combined with an accessible mentorship and supportive department staff, enabled me to partner with faculty members to secure financing from the Campus Sustainability Fund to launch the CityU Sustainability Debate Series. This initiative translated classroom theory into a public forum involving debate teams from across Hong Kong and Macau taking part in the first ever series focused on sustainability-oriented motions.
Bringing this project into my role as Tournament Director and later Chairperson of the Hong Kong Schools Debating and Public Speaking Community allowed me to connect these two worlds, making me more effective in both. I presented findings on the CityU Sustainability Debate Series case in Fukuoka, Japan. The Master's degree in the PIA department sharpened and elevated my knowledge and skills and to this day, I continue to shape the debating ecosystem in Hong Kong through running tournaments and workshops for secondary school students.
