PIA Undergraduate Student Joins Future Global Leaders Programme and Exchanges to Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge
21 Oct 2026 (Wed)

LO Chun Wai Kenneth, a final-year student in the Bachelor of Social Sciences in Public Policy and Politics (PPP), took part in the Future Global Leaders Programme, jointly organised by City University of Hong Kong and Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, from 18 to 30 September 2026.
The Programme offers CityUHK students an immersive learning experience at the University of Cambridge, where they engage with global issues, develop leadership skills and connect with students from different backgrounds.
Reflecting on the experience, Kenneth LO shared:
“Hi, I'm Kenneth Lo, a final-year Public Policy and Politics student in the Department of Public and International Affairs (PIA) at CityUHK. This September, I spent twelve days at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, taking part in the Future Global Leaders Programme, organised jointly by CityUHK and Lucy Cavendish College.
The programme combined two things I care about: leadership and climate policy. Cambridge faculty and guest speakers walked us through what it means to lead in a time of climate crisis, framed around three words: crisis, courage, and cooperation. We studied the science and the law behind SDG 13, then put it into practice through a Leadership Challenge, where our mixed group of CityUHK and Lucy Cavendish students designed real, workable ideas together.
A personal highlight was visiting Cambridge University Press & Assessment and hearing how education can support a more sustainable future. I also loved the quieter moments: signing the Participants' Book at matriculation, touring Trinity College and the Wren Library, and dinners where the conversation never seemed to end.
Studying policy at PIA gave me the language to make sense of these sessions, and Cambridge gave me a bigger world to use it in. To any PIA student curious about leadership and global challenges, I would strongly encourage you to apply for the programme and explore more about Cambridge!”
The Programme provided Kenneth with a valuable opportunity to broaden his global outlook, strengthen his leadership skills and apply his policy knowledge in an international learning environment. PIA encourages students to explore such exchange and leadership development opportunities to enrich their university experience and prepare for future global challenges.
