Celebration of Physics - PHY Annual Symposium 2021 [Register Now!]

The Department is going to organize the “Celebration of Physics” – the third  PHY Annual Symposium via Zoom on Wednesday, 2 June 2021.

The Annual PHY Symposium “Celebration of Physics” aims to provide a platform for our students and faculties to celebrate their achievements in the past academic year.  This annual event has become an essential and integral part of our department’s tradition.

During this event, we will have poster sessions for both undergraduate and postgraduate students so that they can present the most exciting results from their own research projects.

Apart from the online poster sessions for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, we have prepared a strong scientific program this year featuring three talks from our own faculty members and three talks from external speakers. Our external speakers include two junior-level speakers (Dr. ZHUANG Bilin, Assistant Professor from Yale-NUS College, and Dr. KOWALEWSKI Markus, Assistant Professor from Stockholm University), and a senior-level Keynote speaker (Prof. DING Hong from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences).

Their talks cover a wide range of topics from integrated optical micro-ring resonators, polaritonic chemistry to the recent experimental progress in iron-based superconductors. The keynote talk is about the iron-based superconductors, a promising platforms for the search of Majorana fermions, which are regarded as essential building blocks for quantum computers. It will be delivered by Prof. DING Hong who is one of the world’s most reputed experimentalists working on iron-based superconductors. We believe that this year’s scientific program will provide our students with a rare opportunity to interact with some of the best scientists in the world.

We strongly encourage all students and faculty members to attend this event. See you all on Wednesday, 2 June
