Programme Aims and Objectives

CityUHK MBA programme seamlessly bridges theoretical frameworks with practical business challenges, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across fields such as finance, marketing, operations, data analytics, and technology. Students from diverse industries and functional areas collaborate on learning experiences through case studies and real-world business projects. They develop the ability to synthesise knowledge and apply it effectively in various business contexts. This holistic approach ensures that graduates can accelerate their careers and enhance their leadership capabilities. STEM-enriched courses are also included in both our core curriculum and electives.

CityUHK MBA offers three study schedules for students to complete the programme:

  • Full-time (Weekday Mode)
  • Full-time (Weekend Mode)
  • Part-time

To graduate, students are required to complete 40 units, including core courses, electives, and global learning trips.

Entrance Requirements

When considering an applicant, we consider the following factors:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or equivalent;
  • Preferably at least 2 years of full-time post-graduate work experience as of September 2027; and
  • GMAT/GRE:
    • GMAT/GRE is not required for applicants with more than two years of work experience at the time of application.
    • Applicants with less than two years of work experience may receive a conditional offer of admission upon the submission of a satisfactory GMAT or GRE score.
    • GMAT institution codes: 54Q-QT-88 (full-time); 54Q-QT-22 (part-time).
    • GRE institution code: 3198
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview either face-to-face or online.

Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is NOT English should also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

  • a score of 79 (for tests taken prior to 21 January 2026) or 4 (for tests taken from 21 January 2026 onwards) (Internet-based Test) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)@#; or
  • an overall band score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS)@#; or
  • a score of 450 in the new College English Test (CET6) of Chinese mainland or a pass in the old CET-6 test; or
  • other equivalent qualifications/alternative English test.

@  TOEFL and IELTS scores are considered valid for two years. Applicants are required to provide their English test results obtained within the two years preceding the start of the University's application period. 'TOEFL iBT Home Edition', ‘TOEFL MyBest Score’, ‘IELTS Indicator’, ‘IELTS One Skill Retake’ and ‘IELTS Online’ are not acceptable. All TOEFL results must be sent directly by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) using CityUHK’s institution code 3401, while IELTS results must be sent via the IELTS Results Service e-delivery to 'City University of Hong Kong - Graduate School'.

# Applicants with an IELTS overall band score of 6.0 or a TOEFL overall score of 4 will be required to pass an interview for English proficiency conducted by the concerned academic unit.

Entrance Scholarship

 

  1. MBA Elite Scholarship
    Applicants admitted with significant work experience, outstanding academic or job achievement, evidence of leadership in extracurricular activities and community services, or a high GMAT score and good performance in the admission interview will be considered and nominated.

  2. MBA Diversity Contribution Scholarship
    Outstanding international applicants or applicants with overseas work/education experience (outside HK and Chinese Mainland) or special talents will be considered and nominated upon admission.

  • All scholarships are by nominations. No application is required.
  • All scholarships are not mutually exclusive. Students can receive multiple awards on a competitive and merit basis.

  • An additional fee is normally required for each overseas trip under "Global Immersive Experiences" to cover overseas delivery, partner-university arrangements, visits, and other trip-related costs.

  • Graduation requires a minimum of 40 credits.

† Combined mode: Local students taking programmes in combined mode can attend full-time (12-18 credit units per semester) or part-time (no more than 11 credit units per semester) study in different semesters without seeking approval from the University.For non-local students, they will be admitted to these programmes for either full-time or part-time studies. Non-local students must maintain the required credit load for their full-time or part-time studies and any changes will require approval from the University.
