The Department successfully hosted the Space Tech Forum 2026 on 28 July, convening a diverse group of participants from academia, industry, government, and the wider community to discuss the latest advancements and opportunities in space science, aerospace innovation, and sustainable energy.

The event attracted participants from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, including representatives from the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Hong Kong Space Academy, and the Education Bureau. The forum also brought together university academics, researchers, and students from various institutions, alongside primary and secondary school students from both local and international schools, fostering meaningful dialogue and exchange across disciplines, sectors, and generations.
The forum commenced with welcome remarks by the Head of Department, Prof. Yong Yang, who highlighted the importance of nurturing scientific curiosity and innovation. Participants then attended a series of engaging presentations delivered by Prof. Changhuang Wan, Prof. Kan Ma, and Mr. Haoyu Ding, covering topics including China's Tiangong Space Station, the role of nuclear energy in space exploration, and the development and technological challenges in Modern Rocket Engines.
Following the presentations, participants visited the Department's 3D Printing Laboratory, Low Carbon Energy Education Centre, and Flight Simulator Laboratory, where they gained first-hand exposure to advanced technologies and their practical applications through interactive demonstrations.
The forum concluded with an engaging Q&A session and lively discussions between speakers and attendees. By providing a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary learning, the event successfully inspired participants to explore emerging opportunities in space science, engineering, and sustainable energy, while strengthening connections among stakeholders from education, industry, and the broader community.
