ABSTRACT
We propose a temporal coupled mode theory approach that allows for coupling/decoupling asymmetry of the resonant modes in 2D dielectric metasurfaces. The approach is shown to correctly describe transmittance and reflectance zeros both at normal and oblique incidence for all possible symmetries of the unit cell. The analytic results are consistent with the existence of unidirectional guided resonances and correctly describe the effect of intensity flattened phase shifting.
