CityUHK Chengdu Research Institute forms new strategic partnerships and opens Alumni Corner

The new “Alumni Corner” was launched at the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) Chengdu Research Institute (the Institute) earlier. The ceremony also marked a milestone in industrial collaboration, as the Institute signed framework agreements with leading high-end enterprises in Chengdu to establish new strategic partnerships.
The unveiling ceremony of the Alumni Corner was held on 8 March, officiated by Professor Freddy Boey, CityUHK President and University Distinguished Professor, and Dr Li Weidong, Chairman of the CityUHK Chengdu Alumni Chapter.
Following the establishment of Alumni Lounges in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, this marks the University’s first extension of alumni space into western China, underscoring its commitment to strengthening bonds with alumni in the Chinese Mainland and deepening exchanges between CityUHK and its graduates.
The design reflects that of the CityUHK Alumni Lounges in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. A vibrant red feature wall embodies CityUHK’s spirit of passion, courage and innovation, while the comfortable interior provides a venue for alumni networking and exchange activities. Attendees reminisced about their campus days and explored development opportunities between Sichuan and Hong Kong.
Following the ceremony, attendees witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the CityUHK Chengdu Research Institute and leading enterprises in Chengdu, namely the Sichuan Provincial Industrial Technology Research Institute, Sichuan Provincial Industrial Technology Research and Transformation Co., Ltd., Chengdu Hongke Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., and the Sichuan Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Information Service Group.
Present at the signing ceremony were Professor Chen Fu-rong, CityUHK’s Signing Representative and Director of the Research Institutes in the Chinese Mainland; Mr Wang Zhen, Assistant General Manager of Industrial Technology Research Institute Company; Mr Jiang Yueqing, Deputy Director of Hongke Materials Device Factory; and Ms Li Lin, General Manager of the Sichuan Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Information Service Group. Witnessing the ceremony were President Boey; Mr Zhao Yuan, Deputy Director and Secretary of the Industrial Technology Research Institute; Mr Qiao Feng, Assistant General Manager of Hongke Electronics; and Dr Li, Chairman of the Sichuan Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Information Service Group.
Government officials in attendance included Mr Yang Fan, Deputy Secretary of the Shuangliu District Committee and District Mayor; Mr Zhu Guangchun, Deputy District Governor of Shuangliu and Party Secretary of the Chengdu Chip Valley Service Bureau; Mr Chen Xu, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Chengdu Science and Technology Bureau; Ms Xie Shuang, Director of the Shuangliu District Science and Technology Bureau and Director of the Chengdu Chip Valley Service Bureau; and Mr Yang Qingshuang, Deputy Director of the Shuangliu District Science and Technology Bureau.
