Shanxi Winter Service Learning Trip 2020

Run Run Shaw Library's programme, Wooden Pagoda Heritage Research Connections (WPHRC), conducted an eight-day fieldwork study trip to Shanxi Province. This year's student participants were from the City University of Hong Kong's Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Department of Chinese and History and Department of Biomedical Engineering. Students focusing on different academic research share their topics which demonstrate interdisciplinary cultivation towards cultural heritage awareness relating to Chinese wooden architecture, Ming Dynasty plaques, ancient urban planning models and Buddhism history across the region. Students were able to utilise new media technologies such as 3D scanning and aerial photography to document their findings. WPHRC plans to showcase student research output and discoveries from this year's service learning trip to Shanxi Province through student-collaborated fieldwork documentation.
