Shirley CHONG
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Professor (Ms.) Shirley Chong joined City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) in 2016 and currently serves as the Director of Communications and Institutional Research (DCIRO). In this role, she plays a pivotal part in shaping the university's communication and ranking strategies to ensure alignment with its strategic objectives.
Ms. Chong possesses extensive expertise in rankings strategy, both local and international marketing, promoting internationalization, and enhancing the reputations of universities in various contexts.
In recognition of her achievements, Ms. Chong was elected as a Visiting Fellow at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge in 2024. This honor acknowledges her as an accomplished leader who brings a wealth of experience in public relations and marketing to the higher education sector. Ms. Chong is also the Adjunct Professor in the Department of Media and Communication, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, CityUHK.
With her extensive background in public relations and marketing, along with a robust professional network, Ms. Chong significantly contributes to the university's efforts to project first-class media image, foster strong global partnerships and elevate the university's international reputation.
Ms. Chong also serves as management committee member of the Times Higher Education prestigious W100 Reputation Networks, representing universities in the Asia region among the Top 200. In this capacity, she aims to foster reputation networks and drive conferences. She is an active trainer on branding and reputation for W100 Reputation Academy, and a key driver for the launch of W100 Asia Reputation Academy.
