Shirley CHONG

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Professor (Ms.) Shirley Chong joined City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) in 2016 and currently serves as Chief Communications and Global Affairs Officer (Chief CGAO). In this role, she plays a pivotal part in shaping the university's communications and rankings strategies to ensure alignment with its strategic objectives.

With her extensive background in public relations and marketing, along with robust professional networks, Ms. Chong significantly contributes to the university's efforts to project first-class university's image, foster strong global partnerships and elevate the university's international reputation.

In her expanded role, Ms. Chong will spearhead CityUHK's global reputation strategy, strengthening university's presence on the international stage. She will also play a key role in fostering dynamic global networks and enabling greater student and faculty mobility.

In recognition of her achievements, Ms. Chong was elected as a Visiting Fellow at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge since 2024. This honor acknowledges her as an accomplished leader who brings a wealth of experience in public relations and marketing to the higher education sector. Ms. Chong is also the Adjunct Professor in the Department of Media and Communication, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, CityUHK.

Ms. Chong also serves as management committee member of the Times Higher Education prestigious W100 Reputation Networks, representing universities in the Asia region among the Top 200. In this capacity, she aims to foster reputation networks and drive conferences. She is an active trainer on branding and reputation for W100 Reputation Academy, and a key driver for building universities' branding across Asia.
