About: | The lockdown policies linked with the current pandemic have brought a lot of social and economic strains to the families in China, also impacting the long-term care of companion animals. In fact, these past three years of pandemic have highlighted the lack of support tools for pet-owners during moments of crisis, which has sometimes led to the relinquishment of the animals, and therefore to welfare issues.
The current lecture will present the results from the study carried out during the 2020-2021 period in China, which showed how companion animals might have affected the lives of their owners during the lockdown, and how the restrictions could have positively or negatively influenced the quality of life of the dogs and cats. |
