Prof. YU Xinge, in collaboration with researchers from the Institute of Mechanics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University, has introduced a groundbreaking wireless sensing technology for soft biodegradable implants. This innovative approach promises to revolutionize the monitoring of implants by enabling stable, long-distance, and wide-angle sensing.

The findings, published in Nature under the title "Soft biodegradable implants for long-distance and wide-angle sensing," highlight the potential for this technology to enhance patient care by providing continuous and precise monitoring of implant conditions without the need for invasive procedures. The research addresses the challenges of wireless sensing, particularly the errors introduced by noise and variations in distance and angle. By developing a robust system that mitigates these issues, the team has paved the way for more accurate and reliable data collection from biodegradable implants, which are increasingly used in medical applications due to their ability to naturally dissolve in the body over time.
