CHAN Colin Pak Yu and QU Zijia (under the supervision of Prof. LAI King Wai Chiu) have been awarded the prestigious “Paper of Excellence” in the CA Paper Competition 2024/25 organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Control & Automation (CA) Division. The award was presented during a ceremony held on 18 June 2025.

Their winning paper, titled "Transformable Pipeline Maintenance Robot for Underground Pipe Rehabilitation," showcases innovative research and development in the field of robotics and automation. The study presents a groundbreaking solution for the maintenance and rehabilitation of underground pipelines, addressing critical challenges in infrastructure management with advanced robotic technology.
