BME Hosts Renowned Scientist Prof. XIE Xiaoliang for Insightful Lecture on Frontier Genomic Research

Prof. XIE Xiaoliang, an academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the US National Academy of Sciences, the Director of the Changping National Laboratory and the Lee Shau Kee Chair Professor at Peking University, delivered a special lecture titled "Genome-wide single-cell and single-molecule footprinting of transcription factors with deaminase” on 8 July. The event brought together nearly 100 experts and scholars from CityUHK for an engaging exchange of insights.

Success in General Research Fund (GRF) / Early Career Scheme (ECS) Projects 2025-26

Ten projects have been awarded General Research Fund (GRF) / Early Career Scheme (ECS) for 2025-26, with a success rate of 43.5% which is higher than the average success rate of the institutions in Hong Kong. The funded amount is $10.5M, which is 43.7% of the College of Biomedicine total. One of the awarded projects is listed as highly ranked application.

CHAN Colin Pak Yu and QU Zijia (under the supervision of Prof. LAI King Wai Chiu) have been awarded the prestigious “Paper of Excellence” in the CA Paper Competition 2024/25 organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Control & Automation (CA) Division. The award was presented during a ceremony held on 18 June 2025.

Prof. Kannie CHAN has been awarded the ISMRM Senior Fellow by the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) for her pioneering work in developing dynamic glucose enhanced MRI for imaging early changes in Alzheimer’s disease and significant contributions to the field of CEST imaging, especially many novel biomedical applications.
