Dr. Xinge YU and scientists from Northwestern University in the US designed a simple electromechanical device that can be used for deep tissue pathology diagnosis, such as psoriasis, in and automated and non-invasive fashion. The mechanism of the device is adapted from the basis of a skin-integrated haptic interface technology for virtual/augmented reality developed by Dr. YU and the researchers from Northwestern University before.

The findings have been published in the science journal Nature Biomedical Engineering, titled “Miniaturized electromechanical devices for the characterization of the biomechanics of deep tissue”. It will lay a foundation for future applications in the clinical evaluation of skin cancers and other dermatology diseases.

More sharing can be found in the interview between Nature and Dr. Yu at “The wearable device that could help to detect cancer”.
