Information Space

Information Space is an area designed to create a conducive area for more interactive and participatory learning as well as small group teaching. Students can use the PC workstations to explore the information space and to work on their assignments there. Teaching staff can reserve the seminar room for small group class activity.

Facilities

About 100 PC workstations equipped with a wide range of software tools including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, graphics, desk top publishing, web authoring, statistical analysis and programming languages, etc. are available here. For details, please visit the software list of Computing Services Centre (CSC). Current CityU staff and students can use the PC workstations by logging in with their CityU Electronic ID. Advance booking for individual PC workstations is available to eligible students via the Library Room, Carrel & PC Workstation Booking System. Most of the PC workstations are connected to laser printers. Current CityU staff and students are entitled to print within his/her quota limit as assigned by Computing Services Centre. Please see CSC's guidelines for laser printing for details.

Four colour scanners with OCR capability are connected to four of the PCs which are available to current CityU staff and students. These machines can be used to capture colour images and text documents. Users are reminded that unauthorized copying in any way of any materials (whether print or otherwise) which is subject to copyright is not allowed.

A well equipped seminar room with a seating capacity of 31 is available for small group teaching and seminar. To use this room, teaching staff may make arrangement with the Library by sending an email to lb@cityu.edu.hk.
