JCC at The Lam Tsuen Well Wishing Festival

February 8, 2024

This Chinese New Year, there’s nothing better than visiting the Lam Tsuen Well-Wishing Night Market, set up by the local community that neighbours our very own CityU Farm, housing 25 Jersey cows and 13 Jersey heifers currently.

JCC’s persistent commitment to sustainable practises, has served the community at large, not just with its exemplary world-class farm, but also its environmentally enriched dairy by-products, with teaching prioritized primarily.

CityU had the privilege to showcase our CityUHK Milk and Ice cream products, prior to the official opening ceremony of the night market on the 7th of February, 2024. The festival welcomed prolific dignitaries namely Mr John KC Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Miss Alice Mak Mei-kuen, the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs.

Professor Freddy Boey, President of CityUHK, Professor Chan Chi-Hou, Vice President (Community Engagement), Professor Vanessa Barrs, Dean of the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Science, and our JCC staff and students, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests to the CityUHK counter to sample the products.

The college’s strategic initiative to play a significant role in fostering community engagement cogged harmoniously well with the locality’s new year festivities. This initiative not only nurtures but also forms a promotive measure for the community to collaborate and integrate with the college.

The Well-Wishing Night Market is now open to all, up until the 13th of February, 2024. Be sure to stop by at CityUHK booth 61, and extend your festive support. We intend to launch our ice cream on campus on the 14th of February 2024, with many exciting flavours lined up.

Stay tuned for the new year, we’ve only just begun!
