Project

Improving Fish Health and Production in Hong Kong in 2020


Duties

The appointee will work with the aquatic animal veterinary team and fish farmers in Hong Kong on several fish health projects.  S/he will be part of a dynamic team, funded by AFCD, which provides veterinary service to local fish farmers and conducts applied fish health research with the aim to reduce the need for antimicrobials in aquaculture.  Duties include setting up and conducting research projects with farmers; overseeing technical aspects of the projects, e.g. supervising students, assisting with the analysis and write-up of projects, helping farmers develop and write proposals for sustainable fish farming in Hong Kong.

Requirements

A PhD degree with no more than 3 years of experience after the award of a PhD degree.  Experience in writing grants proposals, and conducting field research in engineering or aquaculture is an asset.

Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong time management, organizational and interpersonal skills; good record-keeping skills; attention to details; and a track record of publications are preferred.

Candidates with a Master’s degree and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
