Project Assistant (at the rank of Research Associate) in the Office of the Vice-President (Development and External Relations) (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. C/R/149/09]

The Office of the Vice-President (Development and External Relations) is recruiting a team of high calibre staff to work for a social innovation project which aims at developing Hong Kong youths into empathic social innovators to drive social change by making use of a range of virtual and augmented reality technologies. 

Jockey Club Enhancing Youth Empathy Project through Immersive Visualisation – Walking with Omura’s Whale (WOW) Programme

WOW Programme, being one of the programmes under Jockey Club Enhancing Youth Empathy Project through Immersive Visualisation, was launched in January 2017. It aims at creating a multimedia presentation about the life of the Omura’s whale and other marine lives by using a mixture of virtual and augmented reality technologies, mobile apps and games. CityU students, as our Ocean Ambassadors, will create and demonstrate the multimedia products through various visits and exhibitions, in order to increase public’s empathy and concerns for nature, the ocean and a sustainable future.

Duties

Assist the Project Manager in managing the Project, in particular on the design and production of printed materials (such as posters and leaflets) and graphic design for various activities (such as backdrops and boards of exhibition); responsible for video shooting, editing and post-processing work; supervise and mentor core student members to produce multimedia products (such as video); and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A Diploma or above in Design/Graphic Design/Creative Media/Art or equivalent professional qualifications; experience in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects or any other design/video editing software; good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; a positive attitude with creativity and flexibility for changes; and willingness to communicate with and supervise student teams are required.  Knowledge of and enthusiasm in marine mammals and related marine issues would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
