Assistant IT Manager/IT Officer in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/275/09]

 

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace Technologies, Audio Visual Technologies, and other related IT disciplines to support the University’s operations.  The Centre has about 100 staff and contractors currently.

Duties

  1. Supervise a group of staff to provide event and venue support;
  2. Back up IT Service Desk in daily operations;
  3. Responsible for University’s event planning, coordinating and arranging IT/AV equipment;
  4. Maintain IT/AV working environment in teaching venues, halls, meeting rooms, etc;
  5. Keep track of IT/AV equipment inventory;
  6. Drive service improvement to facilitate event and venue support activities; and
  7. Perform any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.


Working outside office hours for event coordination will be required.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science or other related disciplines with at least 7 years of working experience, preferably in the higher education environment;
  2. At least 3 years’ solid experience in IT/AV and event support;
  3. Good technical knowledge of IT/AV systems for events, video conferences and live broadcasts;
  4. Experience in using video conferencing tools including Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and preferably with experience in using social media streaming tools such as YouTube and Facebook;
  5. Being self-motivated, independent, detail-minded and well organized;
  6. Strong collaboration and problem solving skills;
  7. Solid experience in project management and team management;
  8. Confidence to communicate with users with strong presentation skills;
  9. Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) are required; and
  10. Experience in using audio-visual equipment in video production and editing would be an advantage.


Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
