Assistant IT Manager/IT Officer in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/262/09]

 

The Computing Services Centre at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace Technologies, Audio Visual Technologies, and other related IT disciplines to support the University’s operations.  The Centre has about 100 staff and contractors currently.


Duties

  1. Manage project implementation and support;
  2. Participate in the customization, testing, maintenance, and integration of various application systems (e.g. ServiceNow and in-house applications);
  3. Perform system and database administration (e.g. MS SQL);
  4. Implement solutions to automate repetitive tasks;
  5. Work with vendors and system integrators to implement effective IT solutions;
  6. Compile ad-hoc reports (e.g. Power BI) for management review;
  7. Provide technical and operational support for IT services delivery; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 5 years’ post-qualification working experience;
  2. Proficiency in .NET, JavaScript, Power BI and MS SQL Server;
  3. Demonstrated experience in web technology using RESTful APls, and construction of JSON/XML for data interoperability;
  4. Knowledge of BI report development and experience in the ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow) are preferred;
  5. Familiarity with IT Service Management best practices and IT Operations would be an advantage;
  6. Eager to learn and well-organized with a strong sense of responsibility;
  7. Strong analytical, good interpersonal and communication skills; being attentive to details and proactive; and
  8. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.


Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
