Assistant IT Manager (at the rank of Executive Officer I) in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/174/09]

 

Duties

  1. Assist in the development and support of the Data Centre and campus network;
  2. Manage Data Centre Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and various network devices (Layer 2 and Layer 3), mainly Cisco (IOS and NOS);
  3. Manage security gateway, firewall, traffic shaper, IPS to provide perimeter and core network security protection;
  4. Handle work requests for basic configuration and setting on access devices (such as port enabling and VLAN change);
  5. Collect network log, statistics, security alerts and perform prompt remedial actions;
  6. Install and support network management and/or monitoring software;
  7. Assist in managing various network services (such as DHCP, RADIUS and DNS servers);
  8. Set up and customize Network Monitor, SIEM and programming tools to automate the network operations; and
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Work outside office hours will be required.


Requirements

  1. A good honours degree in IT or related disciplines, with at least 7 years’ relevant working experience;
  2. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  3. Being self-motivated and able to work independently; and
  4. Proven knowledge of and experience in Data Centre Network (preferably SDN), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS/IS or equivalent); network security devices (such as firewalls, IPS) and Bandwidth Management appliances; large-scale campus network; TCP/IP and LAN networking support; DNS, RADIUS and DHCP services preferred;


Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer (at the rank of Executive Officer II).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
