Senior Manager (Engineering and Design) (at the rank of Assistant Registrar) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. C/426/09]



Duties

Implement the University’s campus development program; assist in committee work and prepare design and administrative reports; assess accommodation requirements and physical planning, and prepare brief for new building and renovation projects; prepare documents for consultants to submit technical and fee proposals, and assess and report consultants/contractors’ submissions; lead project teams to ensure a clear understanding of project briefs among all relevant parties and compliance to quality and safety standards; provide professional advice on alternations and renovations of existing facilities, and construction of new facilities; prepare layout plans, architectural sketch design plans and specifications for works contracts; conduct feasibility studies and evaluations to identify possible project strategies and solutions; monitor and control project progress and expenditures against approved programs and budgets to ensure the completion of projects on time and within budget; and perform any other assignments.



Requirements

A good honours degree in Architecture or related disciplines and full membership of the HKIA/similar professional bodies, with at least 12 years’ post-qualification management experience in design/construction/building/structural engineering projects.  Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; being self-motivated and performance driven, with proven management and leadership skills; and ability to complete tasks and assignments independently are required.  Experience in managing government subvention projects in institutional environment, and ability to use AutoCAD and computer graphic software would be an advantage.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.



Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits (where applicable).
