Supervisory Executive Officer in the Global Services Office [Ref. B/119/09]

Global Services Office (GSO) is an outreach arm of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), supporting the University’s internationalization strategies and helping to raise CityU’s profile worldwide. GSO strives for establishing and maintaining collaborative links for academic and student exchanges, recruiting top-quality non-local students and assisting them to integrate into the CityU community as well as enriching students’ international and multicultural consciousness, exposure and learning experience. The Office is looking for a professional who can work with the internal and external constituencies to initiate, develop and implement communication strategies to promote various outreaching and internationalization programs and activities.

 

Duties

Reporting to the Deputy Director (International and Non-local Students), the appointee will be responsible for:  

  1. Initiating and overseeing the development and implementation of various tasks related to communication, marketing research, and other outreaching efforts;
  2. Leading a working group to strategize and monitor the delivery of GSO’s publications and publicity materials to enhance the University’s image and promote internationalization;
  3. Using both new media and conventional publication materials to engage the interest of target audience (including prospective non-local students, parents, international educators, and CityU students);
  4. Serving as the chief editor of GSO’s internal and external publications (such as e-newsletters, e-magazines, websites, Facebook feeds, and WeChat);
  5. Writing feature articles for GSO’s publications in both English and Chinese;
  6. Acting as an event manager to advise and organize various events in different settings (such as overseas receptions, official ceremonies, and international education fairs);
  7. Coordinating and arranging visit programs for delegations from overseas institutions;
  8. Working with colleagues to plan, develop and utilize data to inform decisions on student recruitment, partnership building, and other internationalization programs and projects; and
  9. Performing any other duties as assigned.




Requirements

A good honours degree with at least 10 years’ post-qualification experience. Ability to identify and analyze market intelligence in support of international recruitment and partnership cultivation, excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills (including the ability to work effectively with senior colleagues within the University and external stakeholders such as school principals, counselors, alumni, and key players in the higher education community), excellent written and spoken skills in communication and presentation, ability to interact and understand the needs of non-local students, being flexible and prepared for changes in job assignments are required.  Candidates with working experience in overseas higher education institutions or in the field of public relations, marketing or business development are preferred.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits (where applicable).
