Associate Director of Student Development Services (Physical Education) in the Student Development Services [Ref. B/108/09]


Reporting to the Director of Student Development Services, the appointee is responsible for leading the Physical Education Section to deliver quality physical education programs to students and development of CityU sports teams. The Section is committed to promoting the culture of sports participation and healthy university life of students and staff.

 

Duties

  1. Promote and maintain the CityU sports teams’ excellent image and the University as a “Healthy University”;
  2. Oversee the coordination and quality assurance of the University’s physical education programs;
  3. Manage the CityU sports teams of 300+ young athletes;
  4. Promote and recruit sports talents for CityU sports teams;
  5. Organize outbound and inbound sports exchange programs for CityU athletes;
  6. Organize university-wide sports and wellness events (such as Wellness March, CityU delegation for Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, CityU Annual Athletic and Aquatic Meets);
  7. Ensure quality management of the Physical Education Section in terms of team building as well as financial effectiveness and efficiency;
  8. Coordinate and assist in the redevelopment of CityU Sports Centre, and acquire the off campus sports facilities during the transitional period;
  9. Develop and design administrative and management systems for the Sports Centre;
  10. Coorganize joint sports programs with other universities or external sports organizations;
  11. Supervise section staff and support staff development; and
  12. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  1. A good honours degree or an equivalent qualification in Physical Education or sports-related disciplines, preferably with a postgraduate qualification;
  2. At least 15 years’ working experience in related fields and a proven record of leadership;
  3. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  4. Working knowledge of computer applications; and
  5. Mature personality with ability to work with young people and academic staff.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.


Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits.
