Professor HUANG Yu elected Fellow of British Pharmacological Society

Professor HUANG Yu has been elected as a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society (BPS) in 2023 in recognition of his research and contribution in pharmacological science.

The BPS announced new Fellows and Honorary Fellows on 28 November 2023. The Society has elected 29 Fellows and awarded 9 Honorary Fellowships by stating

“Our Fellows and Honorary Fellows play an incredibly important role in the Society. Through their work, they further all disciplines of pharmacology in the discovery, development and use of medicines. And through their leadership, and contribution to Society life, they inspire and support members at earlier stages of their career or study.”

Professor Huang was awarded a BSc by Fudan University Shanghai Medical College and a PhD in Pharmacology by University of Cambridge. He has served as an editor for British Journal of Pharmacology since 2018. He is the only Chinese corresponding member of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) Committee on Receptor Nomenclature and Drug Classification (NC-IUPHAR) (2011–). He was invited to deliver a Keynote Lecture at the 19th World Congress of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (WCP2023), Glasgow, Scotland.

Professor Huang is the Jeanie Hu Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Head of Department of Biomedical Sciences at City University of Hong Kong.
